Google will launch 2 new smartwatches with Android Wear 2.0 in 2017

After several months without news of Android smartwatches, Google has confirmed that it will launch two new smart watches next year

It's official, Google is going to launch two smartwatches next year. In addition, will be accompanied by a new version of the operating system Android Wear, the 2.0. Jeff Chang, Android Wear product manager at Google, has confirmed this to The Verge. It had been rumored for months that Google prepared two smart watches, internally called Angelfish and Swordfish. These would be the first ones manufactured by the company.

What little is known of the two new smartwatches is that they will not carry the brand "Pixel", which Google released a few months ago. The brand will be directly Google, although they will be manufactured by a third party. In addition to the information on these new devices from Google, Chang has confirmed the current smartwatches to be upgraded to Android Wear 2.0 in 2017:

• Moto 360 Gen 2

• Moto 360 Sport

• LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE

• LG Watch Urbane

• LG G Watch R

• Polar M600

• Casio Smart Outdoor Watch

• Nixon Mission

• Tag Heuer Connected

• Fossil Q Wander

• Fossil Q Marshal

• Fossil Q Founder

• Michael Kors Access Bradshaw Smartwatch

• Michael Kors Access Dylan Smartwatch

• Huawei Watch

• Huawei Ladies Watch

• Asus ZenWatch 2

• Asus ZenWatch 3

One of the main novelties that will bring Android Wear 2.0 is something that users of Apple Watch have known for some time, native applications. This way you will not need a smartphone to work. Other new features will be Android Pay and Google Assistant, something that Apple users also know.

It will also expand iOS compatibility. This will bring new features and features to Android Wear and iPhone users. But without reaching the level of compatibility they have with a Google smartphone. Not even the one with the Apple Watch with the iPhone. Although it looks like it might be the start of Android Pay on iOS.

Next year we will see news from Google in the smartwatch market

During 2016 there has been no major news or update on Android Wear. Nor have smartwatches launched with Android Wear in recent months. So it is good news that Google continues to bet on this market next year. The more competition the better. We will be attentive to the news that Google prepares in its operating system for smart watches. And if it brings an improvement of the compatibility with iOS we will receive them with open hands
